Fitzrovia is characterised by buildings of widely differing age, use and appearance. The streets have an unusually intimate feel for central London. The scale of the development, which replaces two existing buildings and is comparatively large for this area, makes it suitable for occupation by a single organisation or multiple tenants.
We wanted the building to feel like a potential headquarters, quietly assertive as well as appropriate to its setting. The result is an almost sculptural, monolithic elevation of light Portland stone, crafted from two varieties of natural Portland stone and framed with bronze surrounds. A dark-framed glazing system throws the crisply detailed stone into greater contrast.
