Colmore Gate

Birmingham

Ashtrom

Colmore Gate is undergoing a transformation into a modern and environmentally sustainable workplace campus, offering flexible office spaces, retail options, and lush green areas, spanning a total of 475,345 square feet.

The existing office building will be refurbished and extended to provide high-quality Grade A workspace for local businesses. This sustainable development prioritises energy efficiency, innovative green technologies, and a new facade that blends with the surroundings.

Colmore Gate's design minimises its environmental impact and enhances occupant well-being. The project aims to reduce energy consumption, promote sustainable transportation, and decrease the building's carbon footprint. The development also revitalises the urban environment, promotes biodiversity, and offers communal spaces like a 7,600 sqft terrace on Level 10, making it a vibrant hub for the community.

The development will be car-free, promoting active travel modes like cycling and running. A circular economy approach will be applied to materials, aiming to reuse and recycle wherever possible. The project focuses on retaining and reusing the existing structure and foundations, with an estimated 87% retention, reducing carbon emissions by 1728 tonnes of CO2e. New floors will feature low carbon structural solutions.

"Colmore Gate is a forward-looking, sustainable workspace with market-leading amenities in Birmingham's business center. It's a next-gen refurbishment building that supports local and regional business growth. The existing structure is retained with a focus on sustainability and well-being. The design enhances transparency, accessibility, and engagement with the surroundings. The new facade and MEP services minimize carbon impact. The architectural design draws inspiration from Birmingham's heritage, creating a high-quality landmark building at the key entry point to the business district."
