Edward Street Quarter

Brighton

Larger-scale developments can have a significant impact on existing communities. For this scheme in Brighton, we instead began with the needs of local people, foregrounding public greenspace in the design and building in a broad mix of activity and use.

The development is situated in the eastern part of the city, on the site of the former Amex House, which has since been demolished. It consists of six buildings ranging from six to nine storeys in height, creating 168 homes with a variety of tenures, alongside a diverse range of offices, co-working spaces, and maker workshops.

A new pedestrianised street serves as the primary axis through the new quarter, connecting to external landscaped green spaces. A public square serves as the stage for creative and leisure activities, with adjacent cafes, retail spaces, and market stalls arranged to cross-pollinate and support one another.

"We are excited to work with Buckley Gray Yeoman to bring forward the plans for Edward Street Quarter. We see this as an opportunity to deliver meaningful long term benefits for the local area and the City; including jobs, workspace and homes and new public spaces.”
