In the decade before our appointment, Forest School identified a need to adapt and improve its existing facilities to take account of the increased use of information technology in modern teaching. Our brief was to design a new space where children could have access to a range of computers for work, study and play.
As well as a technology hub, there was a need for common space. During playtimes, students had had very little access to indoor spaces, so the new innovation centre had to be a place for them to congregate during free periods. Meeting rooms and a dance studio were also included in the programme.
