The redevelopment includes the remodelling of a double-height entrance on Gresham Street and the creation of a new, secondary entrance on St Martin’s le Grand. Internally, the main reception space uses a palette of materials including smoked oak timber, honed white Nestos marble and bronze with leather seating.
Reflecting a commitment to extend high-quality materials within the building, the same palette is used throughout the circulation spaces and commuter facilities. Elsewhere, the existing atrium was partially filled in to create additional floor space, which has been improved with floor-to-ceiling heights that range up to 3.22m.
At roof level, a new communal terrace space and private garden of over 4,000 sqft includes a glazed pavilion enclosure that will provide food and beverage and serve as an events space year round that captures key views towards St Paul’s Cathedral.
A significant move involves the introduction of a new 1.8m wide cycle ramp which leads to an enlarged bike store beneath ground. The refurbished and enlarged facilities include 280 cycle racks and lockers and 28 showers (14 male and 14 female).
